By thoroughly understanding what they’ve built and how they wish to transition their businesses and their personal lives, Steven works closely with business owners, family members, and key executives to help manage their transitions. A graduate of St. Edward’s University with a BBA in Management, Steven has nearly 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Community

An avid cyclist, Steven is a member of the 787 Racing Cycling Team. He currently serves on the Hill Country Region Chapter Board of Directors of Porsche Club of America as Membership Chair and Secretary.

Steven also incorporates the discipline from his training into his work from his most recent completion of his first Ironman in Whistler, Canada, July 2017.  He has also competed in the New Orleans and Galveston Half Ironman in 2016 and 2017. 

Steven graduated from the the Certified Financial Planning program at the University of Texas at Austin as of December 2016.  He will complete his final exam for certification in March, 2018.

Why is the Certified Financial Planning designation important to clients?

The CFP® certification process, administered by CFP Board, identifies to the public that those individuals who have been authorized to use the CFP® certification marks in the U.S. have met rigorous professional standards and have agreed to adhere to the principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence when dealing with clients.

CFP® professionals must pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Examination, pass CFP Board's Fitness Standards for Candidates and Professionals Eligible for Reinstatement, agree to abide by CFP Board's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Rules of Conduct which put clients' interests first and comply with the Financial Planning Practice Standards which spell out what clients should be able to reasonably expect from the financial planning engagement. These are just some of the reasons why the CFP® certification is becoming increasingly recognized.

Steven will also pursue and complete his Certified Investment Management Analyst or CIMA.  This designation will also help Steven continue to hone his financial portfolio management skills and seperate himself from other financial advisors.  Currently there are an estimated 6200 financial advisors that hold this designation in the United States.

Why is the CIMA designation important to client portfolio management?

The CIMA® certification curriculum provides the knowledge, tools, and strategies to effectively set investment objectives, evaluate and select managers, and manage an investment portfolio for individual or institutional clients.
  2. Executive Education—In a recent survey, 82% of investors indicated it was important or critical that their advisor met a rigorous set of standards – including education – to be certified. Earning CIMA® certification proves that you are serious about the needs and well-being of your clients. CIMA® certificants must successfully complete an executive education program at one of IMCA’s four registered programs: The Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, MIT Sloan School of Management Office of Executive Education or The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
  3. Elite Advisors—CIMA® certificants represent the premier investment consulting and wealth management advisors in the industry. With an average AUM of more than $230M, and more than 18 years’ experience, CIMA® professionals represent the top quartile of the advisor community.
  4. Ethics—Since the financial crisis, the issue of ethics in financial services is a top concern for investors. IMCA® is committed to ethics education, and all CIMA® professionals must adhere to IMCA’s Code of Professional Responsibility, and enforcement of disciplinary violations is handled by a professional review committee of peers.
  5. Rigor—The CIMA® certification process takes most candidates nine months to a year to complete, but only one in three individuals who start the CIMA® certification process will successfully finish.
  6. Differentiation—CIMA® certification stands out in a crowded marketplace as the only financial services credential in the U.S. to have met an international standard for personnel certification (ISO 17024) and earned accreditation by American National Standards Institute.
